Seeds of Plenty's gives back to both global and local communities. This sprouted cookie company was built with the intention to provide financial resources specifically to The World In A Garden and to help the projects expansion around the globe.
The World in a Garden is a multicultural urban agriculture project that educates community and youth on the nutritional, cultural and social benefits of a just and local food system. Our mission is to educate the community and youth on the importance of local food systems. Produce is donated to the food bank, used for harvest celebrations and sold to local markets and restaurant partners.
"Our mandate is to increase access to highly nutritious, fresh and organic food in a way that maintains dignity, builds community and celebrates diversity. We provide internship positions, community food donations, volunteer opportunities, garden workshops and tours. Currently, our garden programming includes: youth education programs, community gardens and seed saving."
In partnership with Jewish Family Service Agency, Vancouver, Tricia Sedgwick piloted the project in Kerrisdale, Vancouver in 2007. There is now a sister site at Vancouver Montessori School where children from ages 5 -13 experience the seed to table process. In addition, The World in a Garden has partnered with Project Somos, (an eco-village for orphaned and abandoned children) to build The World in a Garden, Guatemala – our first international site.
Join with Seeds of Plenty's vision to grow local and just food systems today and get involved with The World in a Garden.
