A Whole Foods Philoshophy...

At Seeds of Plenty our focus is on whole foods that have been prepared for maximum nutrition.  We combine organic, unrefined ingredients with a sprouting method that unleashes the goodness in your grain. Our artisan baked goods are made with sprouted stone ground flour produced from ancient grain varieties to enhance the nutrient profile and increase digestibility. Our unique whole foods preparations deliver a unique stand alone product that is sure to be enjoyed.

Our mission is to impact global consciousness and support a healthy planet. We create a truly wholesome product by working with organic farmers and fair trade ingredients to ensure a better quality of life for our food producers and our customers.


Meet Tricia Sedgwick, Founder
In the beginning my intentions were no more than to create a healthy indulgence and share with those I love…It was through the encouragement of those I shared with that the idea to build a “happy cookie” business developed. Eventually I saw the cookies as a way to provide optimal nutrition for the world, to assist with funding for edible garden projects and as an avenue to create prosperity through giving. I recognized the power of a philantrophic business model while envisioning the cookies as a vehicle that would turn my vision into a reality.

The idea came long before the name which describes both the seeds of the grains used to produce our sprouted stone ground flour, as well as the seeds planted in the ground for edible garden projects.

The journey commenced in the summer of 2006 at the UBC Farm Market where we had a table of various sprouted baked goods. The same year we sold our first round of Christmas and Holiday baskets and we have continued to grow from there, of course with the support of many great partners.

Giving

Giving. It’s at the heart of every culture, to give of oneself, whether it be time, money or resources. It is a need shared amongst humans to be a part of something greater, to help in a way that has the power to heal communities and better the human condition.

The intrinsic value of genuine giving or acts of kindness can not be measured and often ignites the desire to give more. 

The Buddhists call it DANA, the Jewish marked it as MITZVAH, Sikhism has termed it DASVANDH and in North America you will often hear the word PHILANTROPHY, each term is used to describe the act of giving on all different levels. 

GIVING is a common thread among humans, reminding us that among all our differences we are still connected at the core of our existence. We are more than our cultures or our religions; we are human beings sharing a common ground for a better planet.

Seeds of Plenty believes in the values of creating good through giving. It is our philosophy that prosperity is the result of empowered communities that have been invested in. We feel that by giving back we are making a positive change in the collective consciousness and so we donate a portion of our proceeds to edible garden projects in Vancouver, BC and around the globe.

Edible garden projects that focus on sustainable local food systems empower project participants to educate others on the environmental and human impacts of our food choices. It provides the tools for community members to be self sustaining stewards of mother earth while the growing, harvesting and preparing of food is the perfect medium for which we can relate to each other and begin to build community at greater levels. Across cultures and physical borders there is the tradition of food that sustains us …simply put it is, “The World in a Garden”.
